COMPOSITIONS, PUBLICATIONS, & RECORDINGS

IN PROGRESS . . .

New composition: A song cycle for tenor voice and piano. The texts: Psalms 130, 3, 13, 40, and 150. Details to follow.

New compositions & publications: Art songs (solo voice and piano) – “100 Songs/100 Singers” – This is an on-going multi-faceted, multi-year project that will not only generate 100 new LAS art songs, but it will also be tied to a 10-volume publishing project. Eventually, I hope that it will culminate in a series of recording projects.

Throughout my career, I have been inspired by and worked with remarkable singers. I feel extremely fortunate to have collaborated with so many great artists. Each song pays tribute to a specific singer. The volumes are being assembled by voice type, and will be published in groups of ten songs. As the volumes are completed, I will list the contents here.

New publication & recording: In May 2024, I completed Suite (2024), a work for solo piano that was written for Argentine pianist Mirian Conti. Mirian recorded the work in late-2025 as part of an album that will pay tribute to our late mutual friend, composer Michael White. The recording will include music by friends and colleagues who also knew and loved Michael. The publication of the work will coincide with the release of Mirian’s album.

Mirian Conti recently wrote the following on Facebook: “My next CD ‘Circle of Fifths’ will be released in 2026: all colleagues from The Juilliard School. Premiere recordings of composers Michael White, Eric Ewazen, Larry Alan Smith and Samuel Zyman. In homage to Michael White and with pianist Marguerita Oundjian Smith.”

New publication: Le Maschere (2018) – The Masks for Solo Clarinet in Bb doubling Bass Clarinet (optional Clarinet in A) is currently being prepared for publication in 2026.

New recording: A recording of Three Dances (2024) for solo piano will be released during the first half of 2026. The work was published in 2025.

New publication: Sonata (1987) for solo guitar is currently being prepared for publication in 2026.

ON THE HORIZON . . .

New composition: A quartet for saxophone, violin, cello, and piano will be completed in mid to late-2026. Details to follow.

New publication: On February 16, 2024, the Athens-based Galan Trio released a new double album on Neuma Records that includes my Piano Trio No. 3 (2022). This work was written for the 70th Anniversary of the Camerata Musicale Sulmonese in Sulmona, Italy, and was premiered in Sulmona by the Galan Trio in January 2023. This work is currently being prepared for publication in late-2026. Click here for a link to the audio recording.

New publications & recordings: The Galan Trio is in the process of recording all three of my existing piano trios, and once the new work for saxophone and piano trio has been written (see just above), all of these works will be published and released on a new album.
