All Good Men (1986) for baritone, clarinet, horn, and piano (TTMP) – The Walter W. Naumburg Foundation is celebrating its 100th Anniversary on May 17th with a gala event in New York City. Click here for information. This work was commissioned by the Foundation for baritone Christopher Trakas, one of the two 1985 Naumburg Vocal Winners. It was premiered at his Naumburg concert in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center on April 8, 1986 with clarinetist Daniel McKelway, hornist David Jolley, and pianist Steven Blier. This has always been one of my favorite works, and I am delighted that it will at last be in print. The texts include Herman Melville’s The March into Virginia – July 1861 and Wilfred Owen’s Dulce et decorum est, Click here to read about the history of the Naumburg Foundation Commissions.
